🇮🇷 | Full text of the message from the Leader of the Islamic Revolution on the birth anniversary of Lady Zaynab (S) and Nurses’ Day: 1/2
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The fifth of Jumada al-Awwal each year commemorates the blessed birth of a woman who grew under the love, upbringing, and close companionship of the Five Pure Ones, peace and blessings be upon her and them, who are regarded as the finest of Allah’s creation. Over more than fifty years, the upbringing and development of Zaynab al-Kubra (S) in this luminous school brought forth such a diverse array of qualities of nobility and excellence in this radiant star of the ages that she has always been a source of praise, admiration, and pride for the friends of Allah. The pinnacle of this brilliance emerged in the epic of Ashura. On the one hand, she demonstrated boundless compassion, goodwill, and patient care for the oppressed of the plains of Karbala; on the other, she became one of the most distinguished symbols of steadfastness and courage.
From its very beginning, the history of the Islamic movement and Revolution has been filled with scenes of the participation of Zaynab-inspired women and girls of Iran. During the unprecedented national awakening that unfolded in the Third Sacred Defense, this presence reached astonishing proportions in both quality and scale. Today, the Zaynab-inspired women of Islamic Iran, through their prominent participation in various arenas, particularly in squares and public spaces in cities and villages, are at the forefront of demonstrating their commitment in practice and sustaining resistance behind the lines of the hard war. The tyrants of our time, who constantly seek to inflict suffering, pain, and repression upon this nation, find themselves unable to confront this vast force.
The people of this land, devoted to the Pure Household of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon them all, rightly designated the birth anniversary of Zaynab al-Kubra as Nurses’ Day, in recognition of her compassion, her ability to empathize with those in pain, and her selfless service to them. Many of these moral qualities and human values are evident among the hardworking and esteemed nursing profession. Like certain other groups, including physicians, teachers and educators, religious scholars, and relief workers, nurses play a role that restores life and inspires hope. Nurses are therefore sometimes regarded as angels of mercy. This is especially true when, despite the irritability and distress of suffering and ill patients, they provide comfort, hope, recovery, and treatment, thereby becoming a means for divine mercy to descend.
Unlike physicians, nurses must remain continuously present with patients, following their progress persistently and patiently. The impact of this sustained presence extends beyond physical care: it also soothes psychological and emotional suffering and, in many cases, prevents despair from taking hold. In this way, through their compassionate service, nurses accomplish what physicians alone may not be able to achieve.
At a time when the evil network of global arrogance spares no effort to inflict various forms of oppression and crime upon free and resistant nations, particularly the Iranian nation, including by imposing different restrictions on medical treatment and medicines in an effort to make this great nation suffer, attention to nurses and the strengthening of the nursing community are of great importance. Preserving and advancing nurses’ knowledge, skills, capabilities, well-being, motivation, and dignity, particularly among those who have dedicated themselves to serving in non-private institutions, has a significant impact on the physical and mental health and security of society. Therefore, it is expected that officials in the healthcare sector will make these important matters a priority, continuing their commitment to service.
