“I never imagined that I would live to witness the very oppressed yet powerful martyrdom of my lifelong companion, Sayyid Ali, my beloved friend of nearly eighty years, who, like Amir al-Mu’minin Imam Ali (A) and Imam Husayn ibn Ali (A), attained the greatest honor of martyrdom during the blessed month of Ramadan alongside his daughter and children at the hands of the most wretched of enemies, the criminal Zionists. This is a martyrdom almost unparalleled among the scholars of Islam, and this unbearable sorrow will find no healing except through the complete destruction of Israel and the return of that wise Sayyid under the light of the reappearance of His Eminence. While I was mourning in the sacred shrine of Imam Ali al-Rida (A), the news that the Assembly of Experts had appointed His Eminence Ayatollah Imam Sayyid Mujtaba Hosseini Khamenei as Leader brought me a measure of solace and comfort.”
