The August 2017 Bitcoin Cash (BCH) fork is the closest analog to the eCash fork.

Not every exchange credited users at the snapshot, and the ones that didn’t took months to reverse course under user pressure.

Exchanges refusing to credit BTC holders is a choice, and it’s one their users notice.
