WHO has almost 800 Collaborating Centres across the world, which help us to advance health research, scientific evidence and policy implementation that save lives.
Their continuing support and partnership with WHO is admirable and invaluable. Thank you!
As a parent I worry about the world my youngest is entering.
It’s an uncertain world; a world beset by war, poverty, inequality and division; threatened by disease, pandemics and epidemics, and the climate crisis.
But at the #WHA78, the Health Ministers gave me hope — as they expressed the collective will of the nations of the world to work together on a shared approach to shared problems.
The words “historic” and “landmark” have been overused at the #WHA78, but they are perfectly apt to describe the adoption of the WHO #PandemicAccord, and approval of the next increase in assessed contributions to WHO.
My thanks to all Health Ministers and delegates for demonstrating a strong vote of confidence in your WHO at this critical time.
Happy Africa Day! May unity and cooperation help unlock our continent’s potential and build a better future for generations to come through self-reliance!
The principles of: - state sovereignty - human rights - international humanitarian law - equity - solidarity - basing public health decisions on science and evidence are integral to the Agreement.
We do not need to wait for a declaration of famine in Gaza to know that people are already starving, sick and dying, while food and medicines are minutes away across the border.
The analysis released today shows that without immediate access to food and essential supplies, the situation will continue to deteriorate, causing more deaths and descend into famine.
We call for an immediate end of the aid blockade, the release of all hostages, and a ceasefire!
I am grateful that #TIME100Health have recognised the work of all my colleagues around the world and underscored the importance of global collaboration to protect and promote #HealthForAll.
Nobody should get sick when seeking care and health workers must be able to stay safe while providing care.
On #WorldHandHygieneDay, we call on health workers and health facilities around the world to follow safe practices for cleaning hands and using medical gloves.
