TON Proof-of-Stake protocol

🤓 One of the most important things to know about TON is its protocol. The Open Network uses the PoS protocol rather than PoW (Proof-of-Work) and could be serious competition to it.

🕸 Blockchain TON works through a network of validators who participate with a lot of Toncoin and get rewarded for processing transactions on the network, a few details about that:

— Anyone with a high-performance server and enough Toncoin (more than 300,000 TON) can become a validator.

— The validator participates with their Toncoin for a certain period of time, which is returned at the end of the validation round, plus a validator reward in the form of interest.

— The protocol generates reports on any fraud attempts, and fraudulent nodes are cut out and punished.

— A nominator is a person who lends Toncoin to a validator and receives a % of their validator's reward.

DEX vs CEX Overview. What's the Difference?

CEX  —  Centralized Exchange
DEX  —  Decentralized Exchange

Both kinds of exchange provide vital services and allow users to buy and sell crypto, but they are different in some key elements. Are you curious to know which ones? We'll show you the difference!

A centralized exchange (CEX), such as Binance, is a crypto exchange created by centralized organizations that exert control over ownership of the exchange.
▪️ Operated by a centralized organization
▪️ Matching buyers & sellers via the order book
▪️ Matchmaking algorithms regulate supply & demand
▪️ Data exchanged internally goes through centralized security processes
▪️ Users have to deposit their crypto in the central wallet to use services

A decentralized exchange (DEX), such as Tegro Finance, is a decentralized finance platform based on the blockchain network.
▪️ Operated by users and liquidity providers
▪️ No third-party operators
▪️ Smart contracts allow traders to exchange crypto
▪️ Peer-to-peer trading
▪️ Users trade directly from their wallets

It was just a general overview for a better understanding of the principles of function. Each DEX & CEX has unique features and benefits that attract users to find a perfect match according to your needs and wishes.

A Minute of Interesting Facts about TON

We try to publish not only news posts, but also the technical component, because TON is first of all about technology.

🤓 So, we want to tell you one fact about TON: it has a workchain called "Workchain Zero".

Workchain Zero is responsible for processing smart contracts and currency transfers. Most applications usually only need Workchain Zero to work.

⛓ There can be up to 2³⁹ workchains, but Workchain Zero is the only one whose rules are predefined, while the others can be "customizable".

DEX exchanges on The Open Network

⛓There are currently several DEX exchanges on the TON blockchain - Biton, Ston.Fi, Scaleton and Tegro.Finance, which we recently told you about.

Each exchange has its own advantages, but the essence is the same — safe trading of TON and tokens on its blockchain.

💎 We are glad that TON is developing and such useful services are appearing. The availability of exchanges will show which tokens are in demand among users and give an incentive for developers to create their own tokens.

Blockchain continues to evolve, what do you think, is it worth waiting for new DEX or four is enough? Write in the comments.

TON Roadmap: Crosschain

TON Foundation talked about those projects that are working to combine the Internet with blockchain:

▫️TON Sites/TON Proxy [Q3]
Also going to add to these components is the ability to link smart contracts to sites and vice versa.

▫️ NFT Crosschain Transfers [Q3]
A multichain bridge is being finalized. NFT transfers will become available between TON and multiple blockchains: Ethereum, Polygon, BNB Chain and others.

▫️Crosschain token transfers [Q3]
Users will be able to transfer any token from Ethereum and BNB Chain to TON and back. The feature will be added to ton.org/bridge.

▫️Bridge with EVM-compatible blockchains [Q3 2022-2023]
All transactions will happen through smart contracts without intermediaries. New tools must be created so that smart contracts from other blockchains can authenticate TON data and vice versa.

TON DNS analytics and what Foxtails has to do with it

We suggest you to get acquainted with two convenient functionalities of TON DNS:

The first is for an overview of the big picture: displaying all open and closed auctions, as well as statistics on them. At the top of the site you can select the necessary filters and find the desired domain.

1️⃣ For the big picture at

The second one is for tracking specific domains: you have to enter your address into the filter, after which all auctions and domains where you have participated will be displayed. If you want to add an additional domain to the monitoring, you can also add it to the filter.

2️⃣ For specific domains at

🦊 The most important thing is that the listed utilities are only available for Foxtails holders.

If you are interested in interesting projects, as well as in monitoring and buying domains of the .ton type, it's not a bad reason to become one of the project's holders.

Disadvantages of dApps

⚠️ Although dApps promise to solve many of the problems that conventional apps face, there are now some drawbacks:

■■️ Hacking — Because many dApps run on open-source smart contracts, hackers have the ability to censor the code and exploit its weaknesses.

■️ Usability — Many dApps have poorly designed user interfaces, which may discourage some users.

■️ Users — As with many Web 2.0 applications, the more users a dApp has, the more efficient the network becomes, often referred to as the network effect. Currently, dApps work with a small number of users, which makes them less interactive.

■️ Updates and bug fixes — Fixing any problems in dApps is difficult because fixes require each peer on the network to update all copies on the network, which can be a difficult task.

■️ Scalability — While many conventional applications first create an MVP and then scale the system as needed, this is not the case with dApps.

The entire dApp must be planned and built to scale from the beginning, and complex networks and protocols implemented with consensus mechanisms.

Advantages of dApps

✅ dApps differ from traditional applications in several ways, namely:

■️ Resistance to censorship — because there is no single point of failure, it is very difficult for governments or powerful people to control the network.

■️ No downtime — based on a peer-to-peer system, dApps are guaranteed to keep running even if individual computers or parts of the network fail.

■️ Blockchain-based — through the use of smart contracts, cryptocurrency functionality can be easily integrated into the functionality of dApps.

■️ Open Source — Open source dApps drive the development of a wide range of dApps ecosystems, allowing developers to create better dApps and create more functionality.

dApps | Analysis

❕To get started with dApps, a good place to start is DappRadar, a site that lists thousands of dApps, including TON, Ethereum, BNB Chain, Polygon, and others.

The most popular dApps are decentralized financial applications (DeFi), such as decentralized exchanges (DEX).

They allow exchanging one cryptocurrency for another without a centralized intermediary such as Binance or Coinbase.

💰Examples of dApps are the TON blockchain-based DEX exchange under development, Tegro.Finance, and the non-custodial TON Hold wallet.

Decentralized Apps | dApps

ℹ️ Decentralized applications, or dApps, are a revolutionary new way of developing applications that use blockchain technology to eliminate development intermediaries.

An individual or entity cannot independently control dApps because they are decentralized.

⚙️ dApps typically include the following features:

— They are open source and operate on their own, without anyone else's control;
— Their data and records are open to the public;
— They use cryptographic tokens to protect their networks.

While many in the blockchain and cryptocurrency community believe that dApps should have all of these characteristics, as the industry evolves, dApps do not always have these characteristics and may even develop some new ones.

Sponsorship Program | Approval Process

— Application

The current application process is to visit the grants section of the website and select Typeform or Telegram bot. As part of the application, you should fill out the template as completely as possible.

— Review Committee

The application review committee is made up of people from the grants committee, including Justin Hen, technical consultants and business consultants.

— Proposal evaluation

There is a process for reviewing each project, evaluating its usefulness to TON. Then there's pre-screening, short/long form evaluation, and question responses. Scores are given throughout the evaluation, which are tallied at the end. Followed by a call with the team's funder.

— Payment

Teams must provide their TON wallet address on the application. Grants will be paid in Toncoin, and the currency will be used at the discretion of the Grant Committee (e.g., 30-day moving average or spot).

Commissions on TON

TON users should know how commissions are calculated, there is a formula:

Transaction Fee = Storage Fee + Login Fee + Computation Fee + Action Fee + Logout Fee

◽️The storage fee is the equivalent of the amount you pay to store a smart contract on the blockchain. For example, every transaction you make with your TON Hold wallet requires you to send a message to your wallet's smart contract, so you must pay to process that message.

◽️The computation fee is the amount you have to pay to execute the code on the virtual machine. For example, every time you send a transaction using your wallet (which is essentially a smart contract), you execute code to contract your wallet.

◽️ An action fee is the amount you pay for sending commands executed by a smart contract to another smart contract. It also includes payment for routing a message between validator nodes.

◽️Exit Fee — Equals the amount you have to pay to send messages outside of the blockchain, but this is very rarely used.

All fees are named and fixed for a certain amount of commission. But the price of the commission itself is not eternal (currently 1 unit is worth 1000 nanoTON).

The fee, like other TON parameters, is customizable and can be changed by voting on the main blockchain. Changing any parameter requires a 2/3 vote of the validators.
