The illumination had been extinguished, leaving only the encompassing darkness. Venturing through the dense woodland, I stumbled upon a palatial yet antiquated residence— an uncommon sight. I rapped gently on the portal but received no response. Persisting, I continued to knock until the proprietor finally unlatched the door for me. To my astonishment, the host unbarred the door, inquiring,

was unable to articulate my true purpose— I faltered. However, the host subsequently beckoned me inside, and I entered the opulent abode. I was welcomed in the drawing room by a gathering of individuals. The family exuded a sense of comfort, apprehension and terror are undoubtedly present, but they diminish as time marches on and meets that specific point.

A multitude of rats are exhibiting strange, almost balletic movements, and there’s a cat that can speak. It’s bizarre, to say the least. My mother can be incredibly kind, but she has a monstrous side that seeks to consume those in her vicinity. Despite this, I’ve become accustomed to her dual nature, for she is my mother. Lost in a different dimension, I am surrounded by darkness.
