🍎Jeffery Jaxen interviewed Matthew Lysiak about his book "Fiat Food." They are bulking up food with additives to save money, and harming your health in the process.
Jeffery: "When the value of the currency is debased, the food ingredients also become cheapened, and they have bulking products, these additives just to give it substance. Food companies are quietly stuffing your meals with invisible additives not on the label to make you pay more.
When shopping, check the ingredients list for these additives that bulk up products without adding nutrition. Look for carrageenan, look for xanthan gum, look for modified starches, look for soy protein isolate, sodium phosphate, cellulose. It's just helping the companies to make the packages not smaller, but some of them actually have negative efficacy when it comes to your nutrition and health.
Carrageenan has been associated with the activation of pro-inflammatory pathways. That's not good. This study provides evidence that increased carrageenan intake can disrupt intestinal barrier function in humans. "
