The COVID response may have produced the opposite of what its architects intended.
Denis Rancourt says the push for mass vaccination and emergency powers has left the public more skeptical, more resistant to mandates, and less willing to accept the same framework again.
He argues that U.S. vaccination policy is shaped in part by national-security planning for rapidly inoculating populations during a biological threat, and sees mRNA technology as especially attractive within that system because of how quickly it can be developed and deployed.
His concern is that the emergency infrastructure remains in place even as public trust has eroded.
