Whilst Ukrainian manufacturers are urgently improving their means to counter the new, significantly upgraded Russian Geran-5s, there is now also good news from Germany. I received a video from a credible source showing the successful interception of a Geran-5 by the new SPYS interceptor drone designed via the German-Ukrainian Joint Venture Quantum WIY Industries. To my knowledge it's still undergoing combat testing, but first interceptions are taking place!

Brief update on Germany's military assistance to Ukraine: Upon inquiry, a German MoD spokesperson informed me that besides other air defence supplies, this year Germany has also financed & supplied MANPADS, as well as spare parts packages for IRIS-T SLM/SLS & MIM-104 Patriot.

P.S.: These deliveries take place several times a year, so it comes as absolutely no surprise to me, but as the German government currently lacks any meaningful transparency when it comes to Germany's military assistance, I thought I should still share that confirmation with you.

The German city of Wolfsburg is in the process of donating a fire fighting vehicle with a large-capacity water tank from its own professional fire brigade as well as a minibus with a wheelchair ramp to its Ukrainian solidarity partnership city Nizhyn.

Thanks to a congressional record published on the 15th of September 2026, we now know that Germany plans to deliver a total of 10 PAC-2 GEM-T missiles to Ukraine once it has received US approval.

Germany's Minister of Foreign Affairs announced on Ronzheimer's podcast that there is currently dissatisfaction with the volume of orders for the German defence industry in connection with Germany's military assistance to Ukraine.

According to him, this has been communicated to the Ukrainian government including President Zelenskyy directly alongside the request to improve the situation in the future.

The German city of Hannover has donated two pallets worth of medical equipment, suture material and other essential supplies to a hospital in its Ukrainian solidarity partnership city Mykolaiv. Another pallet has been handed over to Mykolaiv’s education department.

Germany has funded the refurbishment of a 6,000 m³ clean water reservoir in Sumy through the state-owned development bank KfW with work carried out by IOM Ukraine. The refurbishment helps to ensure access to clean water for 32,000+ residents, 5 health-care facilities & 10 educational institutions.

My latest → According to an interview published today, the production of the Bars cruise missile-drone hybrid in Germany is likely to begin soon, whilst deliveries to the Armed Forces of Ukraine are expected to start as early as next month.

Germany’s Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) has handed over a modern fire fighting vehicle with a ladder and a lorry fitted with a crane to the Kyiv Regional State Administration which will be used by the regional emergency and rescue service.

The German government has funded the handover of 11 Skoda Karoq vehicles to support the operational activities of Ukraine's National Police's cyber crime units. The vehicles were handed over today by Germany's new Ambassador to Ukraine Boris Ruge.

It seems that Ukraine's 1020th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment which belongs to the Ground Forces has taken delivery of the first Skyranger 35 SPAAGs mounted on a Leopard 1 chassis made by Rheinmetall. A contract for the delivery of the Skyranger 35 SPAAGs was signed in H2 of 2025 with an unnamed EU country financing the SPAAGs through the interest of frozen Russian assets.

The German government is massively increasing its commitment to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund to assist repairs of Ukraine's energy sector with another around €250 million in funding pledged via the state-owned development bank KfW.

Germany is already by far the biggest contributor to the fund and has so far contributed ~€557.1 million in funding which equals nearly 25.8% of all funds pledged. Another €250 million will therefore be the basis for major repairs especially over the winter period.

My latest → Already some time ago, the Armed Forces of Ukraine appear to have received an unknown number of Cold War-era Type 25E aerial bombs from German stocks. In Ukraine, however, it appears that they are not being used as originally intended.

The German government has contracted 100 Protector UGVs for the National Guard of Ukraine to assist with logistics and evacuation tasks at the frontline. According to the manufacturer, the first 10 vehicles have already been produced and handed over.
