🇮🇱 Netanyahu warns of pre-election attacks, opposition smells a campaign stunt

Speaking at Tel Nof air base, Netanyahu claimed Israel has "indications that ahead of the elections, our enemies will try to attack us," before warning: "Don't mess with us, not now and not ever. Our long arm will reach you anywhere, at any time."

He gave no details and did not say which enemies he meant or whether the threat was concrete.

The opposition reacted immediately. Gadi Eisenkot's Yashar party demanded that opposition leader Yair Lapid be briefed on the intelligence right away "to ensure it is indeed a real threat and not a political move designed to harm the election campaign."

The warning comes less than a month before the late October Knesset election, with Netanyahu increasingly front-running military announcements and boasting of killing over 100 people in Gaza in recent weeks.

Just three weeks ago, the same Netanyahu told his cabinet that "Israel is stronger than ever, our enemies are weaker than ever." Now, conveniently close to the vote, the enemy is at the gates again.
