Famous epitaph Ibn al-Jawzi Rahimahullah (597H) asked to be written on his grave:

> *يا كثيرَ العفوِ عمَّن*
> *كثرَ الذنبُ لديهِ*
> *جاءكَ المذنبُ يرجو*
> *الصفحَ عن جرمِ يديهِ*
> *أنا ضيفٌ وجزاءُ الـ*
> *ضيفِ إحسانٌ إليهِ*

> O You Who abundantly pardons those
> whose sins have become many,
> A sinner has come to You hoping
> for forgiveness for the crimes his hands have committed.
> I am Your guest, and the reward for a guest
> is to be treated with kindness.
