NYSE is weighing Avalanche as the settlement layer for a 24/7 onchain trading platform its parent ICE is building for tokenized securities.
The venue would list tokenized securities that trade around the clock, pairing NYSE's Pillar matching engine with onchain settlement so stocks can change hands against stablecoins at any hour. NYSE executive Michael Blaugrund said Avalanche "checks a lot of those boxes for us, so we're very engaged with the team," while framing the work as an evaluation of an alternative trading system that is still in development, with no launch date set.
A live NYSE venue settling equities on Avalanche would be one of the loudest votes of confidence yet in public-blockchain rails for regulated markets, placing a Wall Street incumbent alongside the crypto-native infrastructure it once kept at arm's length.
