CRA Agent ($CRA) is a payment rail for AI agents on Arc, Circle’s L1, where gas and settlement both run in USDC. This isn’t an AI model. It’s infrastructure so an agent can buy API calls for a fraction of a cent — no wallet in the prompt, no gas for the model to manage, and no way for the LLM to raise its own spending cap.
What’s getting built?
An MCP server, seller middleware, and a ledger. The agent hits one tool (arc_pay + a URL). The rail does four things: reads the x402 price (HTTP 402), applies spend policy (daily cap, per-seller, per-payment, allowlist), verifies the seller with ERC-8004, signs a gas-free USDC authorization through Circle Gateway, and writes a receipt. If the endpoint fails, nobody gets charged. Receipts are signed and checkable offline (cra-agent verify). They also shipped a price oracle that reads actual swaps, not quotes. Open-source TypeScript monorepo: policy, ledger, seller, MCP, ERC-8183 escrow.
