It is 32.9%....

5️⃣Just five clusters account for roughly one-third of global PCT patent applications captured by the ranking:

1️⃣ Shenzhen–Hong Kong–Guangzhou

2️⃣ Tokyo–Yokohama

3️⃣ San Jose–San Francisco

4️⃣ Beijing

5️⃣ Seoul

🇨🇳🇺🇸 Meanwhile, China hosts 25 of the world’s top 100 clusters and the United States 20. Together, they account for nearly half of the entire list....

But the three metrics tell very different stories,

Asia dominates patenting and scientific publication volume...
The 🇺🇸US and 🇬🇧UK show much stronger concentration in venture capital!

And small, specialized ecosystems can outperform much larger cities on a per-capita basis 📊

Cambridge is #2 by innovation intensity. Ningde is #3 while ranking only #75 by overall scale,

That changes how I would read an innovation cluster...

Patent volume tells you where technical assets are being generated,
Scientific output tells you where knowledge is being produced.

That connection is the real metric 🔗
