At the initiative of the Center for Public Diplomacy, a tour of the historic building of the St. Petersburg State Conservatory named after N.A. RIMSKY-KORSAKOV was organized for guests from the Republic of Guinea. The delegation arrived in the Northern Capital to participate in the 12th St. Petersburg International United Cultures Forum.
 
Aboubakar Sidiki CONDE, National Director of сulture and historical heritage at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Handicrafts of the Republic of Guinea; Mohammed Amiru CONTE, Director General of the National Museum of the Republic; and Alseny DIALLO, Cultural Advisor at the Embassy of the Republic of Guinea in the Russian Federation, were warmly welcomed by the Сonservatory’s leadership.
 
Rector A. N. VASILIEV led the delegation on a tour along the same itinerary that Russian President V. V. PUTIN followed during his visit.
 
The meeting participants highly praised the quality of the building’s restoration, comparing the current condition of the premises with historical photographs. Special attention was paid to the preservation of elements of the historic decor: the guests were shown fragments of ancient murals discovered during the restoration work. The tour participants learned that the preservation of such details is not a unique initiative but a mandatory practice in Russia, enshrined in law.
 
In addition to the architectural features, the visitors were given a detailed tour of the technical equipment in the Conservatory’s concert halls. The delegation members were particularly interested in the equipment used, as well as the modern technologies that enable the preservation and restoration of cultural heritage objects.
 
The guests also showed great interest in the Conservatory’s academic opportunities and emphasized the important role of the Center for Public Diplomacy as an international bridge for building educational and cultural ties through the Russian House in Conakry.
