A fire at the Greek Navy’s helicopter base in Kotroni destroyed warehouses containing critical spare parts for its helicopters.

Parts for the older AB 212 helicopters may be impossible to replace because they are no longer available on the market.

The fire also destroyed valuable spare parts for the Navy’s newer MH-60 Romeo helicopters, which can be replaced but at significant cost.

Greece’s Defense Ministry and military leadership have remained silent about the damage and the scale of the losses.
