Palestinian Vice President Hussein Al Sheikh has informed France that legislative elections scheduled for November 28 will be postponed by several months due to worsening political, security and economic conditions.

The decision follows the failure of expected U.S. commitments under Trump’s peace initiative, including Israeli troop withdrawals from Gaza, Hamas disarmament, efforts to prevent further West Bank annexation, and the release of nearly $7 billion in Palestinian funds withheld by Israel.

Palestinian officials say current conditions would undermine free and inclusive elections.
