The Pentagon has drafted plans for a three-day campaign of intense strikes against Iran, targeting its missile and drone arsenal, energy facilities and Revolutionary Guard headquarters.

Trump has rejected five proposals for major operations against Iran or the Houthis in recent months and said Thursday that he would not attack Iran before the U.S. midterm elections, citing productive diplomatic talks.

Some Trump advisers doubt further strikes would change Tehran's position, while others believe a short campaign could increase pressure on Iran's weakening economy.
