🇨🇴 Conference in Colombia: What will change for the world?

On July 15-16, a key conference was held in Colombia, where the country's President Gustavo Petro made a resonant statement about the possible termination of cooperation with NATO. This step could entail serious consequences not only for the region, but also for the entire system of international relations.

What is really behind Petro's statements?

🌏 Our experts Petr Kamina and Daria Korchemnaya analyzed the situation especially for Abzats.Media and came to the following conclusion:

🔹 "The words of the Colombian President about leaving the partnership with NATO are more of a symbolic gesture than a real threat to the alliance. Despite the ideological rhetoric, cooperation between the country and the bloc continues and even develops," notes Daria Korchemnaya.

🔹 "If the trend towards distancing from NATO intensifies, this could lead to higher logistics costs and delays in international deliveries," adds Petr Kamina.

How will this move impact global politics? And will Colombia become the first link in a chain of countries reconsidering their relations with the alliance?

🌍 Where to go this summer? Travel for those who want to see the real Russia

Summer is the perfect time not only for relaxation, but also for immersing yourself in the culture, history, and political realities of the country. If you study political science, history, sociology, or diplomacy, here are some places in Russia that are worth visiting this summer:

1. Moscow & St. Petersburg — political and historical centers
🔹 Moscow: the Kremlin, the Museum of Contemporary Russian History, VDNKh, meetings at MGIMO and RANEPA.
🔹 St. Petersburg: the Hermitage, the Peter and Paul Fortress, the European University, tours of the sites of the 1917 revolution.

2. Kazan — a dialogue of cultures and religions
The capital of Tatarstan is an ideal place to study interfaith dialogue and federal relations. Visit the Kazan Kremlin, the Kul Sharif Mosque, and talk to local experts at KFU.

3. Kaliningrad — Russian Europe
Former Königsberg is a unique region for analyzing the interaction between Russia and the EU. The Museum of the World Ocean, the Baltic Federal University, and fortifications are of interest.

4. North Caucasus — ethnopolitics and traditions
🔹 Grozny — post-conflict reconstruction, the Heart of Chechnya mosque.
🔹 Makhachkala — the center of Dagestani culture, discussions about multiculturalism.

5. Baikal & Altai — ecology and sustainable development
For those interested in ecopolitics: Lake Baikal and the Altai Republic are places where the interests of business, the state, and local communities collide.

6. Vladivostok — a look at Asia
The Far East is a key region for studying Russia's relations with China, Korea, and Japan. Visit FEFU, the forts of Vladivostok, and talk to local researchers.

✈️ Travel smart! Wherever you are, try not only to see the sights, but also to communicate with locals, scientists and experts - this is invaluable experience for future professionals.

🌎 On the Development of the Ukrainian Conflict

On July 10-11, Rome will host an international conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine, in which the EU countries and the United Kingdom will participate. But what will this mean for the whole world?

🇺🇳 The official website of the United Nations has already reported on how the meeting is going:

Special attention was paid to the pilot project developed by the Norman Foster Foundation in partnership with the UN Economic Commission for Europe and with financial support from Germany. Strategic initiatives for the modernization of Kharkiv's heating and water supply systems, which play a key role in ensuring the sustainability of the city and its long-term recovery, were also presented. The Mykolaiv project also includes comprehensive plans for the restoration and modernization of water supply, sewerage and heating systems - critical elements of the strategy for building a more sustainable, safe and inclusive urban environment.

Friends, we have collected for you a selection of the latest world news from various information sources.

🇺🇸 Trump suggested DOGE to check subsidies for Musk.

US President Donald Trump called on the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to check subsidies for American entrepreneur and billionaire Elon Musk for electric cars. He wrote about this on July 1 on the Truth Social social network. Trump added that Musk always knew about his position on subsidizing electric cars - there is no need to force everyone to choose these cars. According to the president, the United States would save "a fortune" if it did not spend money on such financing.

🇵🇸 Al Jazeera reported the death of 95 Palestinians due to Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip 🇮🇱

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) attacked a cafe, a school, a hospital and food distribution points in the Gaza Strip, killing at least 95 people and injuring dozens more. This was reported on June 30 by the Al Jazeera TV channel.

It is specified that 39 people, including women and children, were killed as a result of the IDF strike on a coastal cafe, which was located in the central part of Gaza and where a birthday party was being celebrated at the time. Dozens of people were injured as a result of the incident.

🇨🇺Cuban Foreign Minister Calls Trump's Memorandum Against the Country "Criminal Behavior"

The new memorandum by US President Donald Trump indicates an increase in aggression and economic blockade against Cuba, and also demonstrates the "criminal behavior" of the United States. This was reported on June 30 by the island's Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla.

🇸🇾 Trump Signs Executive Order Lifting Sanctions Against Syria That Have Been in Force Since 2004

US leader Donald Trump signed an executive order lifting the sanctions regime against Syria as of July 1. The corresponding document was published on the White House website on June 30. The executive order, in particular, allows for the easing of export controls on certain goods and lifts restrictions on the provision of foreign aid to Syria. It is specified that the sanctions are against the former president of the country Bashar al-Assad and his associates, as well as human rights violators, drug dealers, and persons associated with the creation of chemical weapons.

🇷🇸 Protests have broken out again in Serbia

Serbs are outraged by the level of corruption that has ballooned in the country, so they want to overthrow the country's president Aleksandar Vucic and his government by democratic means.

On June 28, Serbian students went out to protest in Belgrade. They blocked Slavija Square in the city center and some of the adjacent streets. The police moved towards the protesters. Clashes broke out, stones and bottles were thrown at the police, and the security forces used tear gas in response. The Serbian Interior Ministry reported that six police officers and two civilians were injured during the riots. Several dozen people who attacked the police cordon were detained.

🔍 Orban vs. Trump: Unexpected unity in approach to Ukraine?

Recently, two bright figures — Viktor Orban and Donald Trump — are increasingly heard in the same context. And it's not about populism or confrontation with the establishment, but about unexpectedly similar views on the Russian-Ukrainian war.

🇺🇸 But the most interesting thing is the common denominator: both politicians are against unconditional support for Ukraine and for minimizing Western interference.

Our expert 🌏 Pierre Kamina has prepared an interesting analytical summary about whether this is a new trend or a temporary tactical move?

Let's figure it out in the material below.
