#CIIC_digest : main events in the world

From the escalation of geopolitical conflicts to breakthroughs in diplomacy, the world continues to wage a tense struggle for influence, resources and security.

🇨🇳China Condemns Pressure on TikTok, Calls for Market Principles

Chinese authorities have issued a statement on US actions against the popular social network TikTok. In response to the postponement of the platform's blocking in the country, the Chinese agency condemned attempts at "robbery" and violations of market economy laws.

The PRC emphasized the importance of equal, voluntary and fair business practices, noting that any agreements must comply with Chinese law. In particular, technology exports require approval from the Chinese government.

🇬🇷 Thousands of Protesters in Athens Demand Social Guarantees

Thousands of people took to the streets demanding higher wages and measures to combat rising prices. Participants in the rallies, which took place simultaneously on three squares in the capital, carried banners with slogans calling for higher wages, the return of privatized railways to the public sector, improved working conditions and the redistribution of funds from military needs to social programs.

Speaking at the rally, Dimitris Koutsoumpas, Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece, voiced the key demands of the protesters: the restoration of 13th and 14th salaries and pensions, measures to reduce the debt burden on households and the conclusion of collective labor agreements.

🇺🇸 The US will seize the property of illegal migrants

The Donald Trump administration plans to introduce tough measures against migrants. According to information, migrants who fail to leave the US after a deportation order will be fined up to $998 per day. In case of non-payment, the government may confiscate their property.

The fines are based on a 1996 law that was first used in 2018, during Trump’s first term. The government plans to apply the sanctions retroactively for up to five years, potentially resulting in fines of more than $1 million.

The new measures will affect about 1.4 million migrants who have been ordered to leave the country by the court. Experts note that high fines could be an unbearable burden for low-income migrants, many of whom live below the poverty line. The rest will face the loss of their bank accounts, confiscation of their cars and valuables. It is unknown whether amendments will be adopted later to allow offenders to engage in forced labor to work off their debts.

🇦🇷 Argentina paralyzed by general strike against Miley’s policies

The country is facing its third general strike since the election of Javier Miley. Trade unions united in the General Confederation of Labor (CGT) organized a 24-hour protest against the austerity policies of the libertarian government.

The strike was preceded by a mass demonstration outside the National Congress on April 9. The CGT accuses the government of ignoring demands for higher wages and increasing social inequality.

Today's strike led to the suspension of rail and air traffic, the closure of schools and banks. Aerolineas Argentinas, which the government plans to privatize, canceled 258 flights, affecting about 20 thousand passengers.

🇹🇷 Turkish opposition collects over 10 million signatures for early presidential elections

The Republican People's Party (CHP) of Turkey has announced the collection of over 10 million signatures in support of holding early presidential elections. CHP leader Ozgur Ozel announced this at a rally in one of the country's districts. According to the politician, the collection of signatures continues, and the opposition intends to achieve even greater support for its initiative. He also sharply criticized the current government, calling it a "junta" that does not represent the interests of the people.

🚀 Cosmonautics Day: The great feat of the USSR 🌍✨

On April 12, 1961, Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin was the first in the history of mankind to conquer space on the Vostok-1 spacecraft! His legendary "Let's go!" It has become a symbol of a new era — the era of cosmic achievements.

The USSR is a pioneer of space:

✔ The first artificial satellite (1957) — the beginning of the space age.
✔ The first living being in space is Laika the dog (1957).
✔ The first female cosmonaut - Valentina Tereshkova (1963).
✔ The first spacewalk — Alexey Leonov (1965).
✔The first Mir space station (1986) is a breakthrough in long—term missions.

🚀 The feat of Soviet scientists, engineers and cosmonauts is forever inscribed in the history of mankind. Their courage, genius and hard work have given us stars!

We are proud! We remember! Let's get inspired!✨

🌍 Multipolar world in the eyes of the people

😍 Friends, our competition "The Way of a Political Expert" is actively underway!

Earlier, we already reported that the first stage, in which teams prepared analytical materials about the multipolar world, has ended. Today, we would like to introduce you to one of the interesting works.

🔹 Participants of the "Multipolar Bear" team: 🇷🇺 Maxim Nosenko (Russia), 🇨🇴 Juan Marco Gonzalez (Colombia) and 🇮🇹 Christian Baldi (Italy). The guys had an unconventional vision of the analysis: they asked respondents to draw associations with the multipolar world.

Here are the conclusions they came to:

Similarities
✔️ No hegemon - a world without a single leader.
✔️Equality - all nations, large and small, are equal.
✔️ Counteracting dominance - especially the emphasis on the United States.
✔️ Common symbols – there are similar images in the drawings of people from different countries.

Differences
✔️ Russia and Italy: some noted the risk of competition between the countries, but do not perceive it as toxic.
✔️Colombia: here, multipolarity is seen more idealistically, without an emphasis on conflicts.
✔️ Different expectations for the timing of such a world.

How would you depict a multipolar world? 🎨

😍 Results of the first stage of the International Competition "The Way of a Political Expert"

The first stage of the competition turned out to be truly eventful - many unexpected solutions, deep analytical conclusions and creative approaches. The participants demonstrated a high level of preparation, and the jury noted several works that stood out for their unconventional approach to the task.

We would like to note that ALL teams demonstrated a high level of intra-team communication and conducted interesting and informative research.

Of all the participants, 15 teams made it to the next round. They will have to immerse themselves in the world of political analysis - study electoral trends, predict scenarios and propose strategies.

💪 It was not easy - tight deadlines, voluminous data and high requirements. But all the teams did an excellent job!
