🇺🇸🇮🇱 Leaked emails show that in May 2014, Epstein invited former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak to meet with Peter Thiel, co-founder of Palantir Technologies, to discuss geopolitics and surveillance technology.

In early June of that year, Barak wrote to Epstein: “Thx. Call you after the meeting,” and mentioned plans to sit down with Thiel’s Valar Ventures.

Around the same time, Barak was focused on Reporty, later rebranded as Carbyne, an Israeli emergency-response company that collects real-time video, audio, location, and privacy data. He served as chairman of Carbyne’s board and was listed as an early investor in 2015. Epstein helped contribute to Barak’s initial investment.

2016 emails to Epstein and Barak additionally show Valar Ventures’ Andrew McCormack eager to learn more about Carbyne.

From 2015 to 2016, Epstein invested $40 million in Thiel’s Valar Ventures, which has since ballooned to $170 million. In 2018, Thiel’s Founders Fund participated in a $15 million Series B funding round for Carbyne.
