Crypto Meets Mortgage 🏠
A risk analyst at Fannie Mae is staring at a spreadsheet that was never built for this.
The agency that underwrites roughly half of American home loans just updated its guidelines to accept crypto-backed assets in mortgage qualification. The asset that moves 15% on a random Tuesday, now part of the paperwork for a 30-year fixed.
Think about the collision. Your collateral could double before your first property tax bill. Or halve before the housewarming party. Fannie Mae looked at that volatility curve and said "we can work with this." At Choise.ai, we said that two years ago.
This isn't gradual adoption. It's two financial eras being duct-taped together — the most conservative lending instrument in America and an asset class that didn't exist 15 years ago.
The old spreadsheet wasn't designed for this. Neither were the old rules.
