🏎 Formula 1 races will become shorter from 2027. The standard Grand Prix distance will be reduced from 305km to 290km, which is expected to cut roughly two or three laps from most races. The change is linked to the 2027 Power Unit regulations, particularly adjustments to fuel flow.

A new hard stop time will also be introduced for races disrupted by rain or other incidents. The current three-hour overall race limit will be removed, while the existing two-hour limit for actual racing will remain. The aim is to give races a better chance of reaching a full distance after lengthy interruptions.

⚙️ Finally, gearbox homologation will be removed from 2027, giving manufacturers greater freedom in component development. Minor technical regulation changes were also approved. All measures still require final approval from the FIA World Motor Sport Council.
