⚙️ The FIA carried out urgent resurfacing at Turn 1 after drivers complained that the new asphalt was breaking up.
Hot, dry weather reportedly caused subsurface settlement, affecting Turns 1, 12 and 13. Pirelli also recorded less grip than last year.
George Russell called the situation “quite strange”, while Oscar Piastri said the new surface was “not very grippy”. Franco Colapinto later crashed at Turn 12.
Turn 1 was prioritised because it is the circuit’s main overtaking zone.
