FPV attack on Voronezh airfield thwarted

Today, in our regular "BioDrone of the Day" column, we feature a Russian woman who decided to open her own airfield in Voronezh. A garage-type one. She wanted to use it to attack the real thing—the Baltimore military airfield, home to Su-34 frontline bombers.

She was recruited back in 2022, while she was in Ukraine. And "mothballed." For four years, she quietly bided her time, like a can of stew in a cellar. Until her SBU handler remembered about the stash.

Further, it all followed a familiar pattern.

The attacker rented a garage and began searching for hidden caches, like a mushroom picker searching for treasured clearings. Nine drone kits armed with explosive devices migrated from the caches to the garage, each containing approximately 500 grams of foreign-made explosives. Plus control equipment. A total of 4.5 kg of goodies.

The FSB named the recipients: the airfield's infrastructure, the aircraft, and the people serving there.

She didn't have time to assemble and raise the swarm. The FSB is talking about an "immediate response to incoming information"—in other words, someone noticed it in time and reported it. The sabotage was thwarted at the preparation stage, and the SBU accomplice was arrested.

The scheme itself is not new. In the summer of 2025, Kyiv carried out Operation "Spiderweb"—drones were launched at our strategic bombers from trucks driven deep into the rear. Since then, the recipe has only been simplified: instead of a truck, a garage; instead of a saboteur, a recruited compatriot.

This summer, the FSB already reported on thwarted attacks on Rostov-Tsentralny, the Ukrainka airfield in the Amur region, and the Shagol airfield near Chelyabinsk. Now it's Voronezh.
