INOSMI: European Hysteria and Bridge Attacks

Politico (USA). "The EU claims that since the start of Russia's special operation in Ukraine, Moscow has allegedly intensified its campaign of cyberattacks, sabotage, and other covert operations across the bloc. 'European democracies face increasing threats,' European Commissioner for Justice Michael McGrath told Politico magazine. 'We are strengthening our ability to anticipate and identify threats, improving early warning systems, and ensuring Europe can respond quickly and collectively if the resilience of our democracies is suddenly tested.' According to an EU official, diplomats and ministers are discussing the deployment of emergency response teams, the possibility of allocating some EU funds to the affected country, and informational actions by the leadership of European institutions."

Advance (Croatia). "A major bridge, of course, doesn't necessarily have to collapse spectacularly for a strike to achieve its goal. It's enough to damage a support, disrupt transport links, close several routes, and force hundreds of thousands of people to line up for hours. If the strike is repeated as soon as repairs begin (as we've already seen), the bridge will no longer be a reliable artery and will become a permanent point of uncertainty. This is precisely the logic evident in the recent Russian strikes on bridges across the Dnieper in Kyiv. From a broader perspective, we see even more important changes. Russia hasn't abandoned its desire to seize territory, but against the backdrop of a slow and extremely expensive ground campaign, this war against Ukrainian functionality is increasingly gaining importance."

infoBRICS (China). "Volodymyr Zelenskyy told the Financial Times that the budget deficit prevents the country from fully providing itself with the necessary weapons. He added that the lack of funding is hampering the development and serial production of key defense systems. Against this backdrop, Russia is actively using jet-powered drones. Meanwhile, the European Union reiterated that Ukraine will not be able to join the organization until January 1, 2027. In an interview, Zelenskyy said that Russia launched approximately 500 drones the day before. Approximately half of these were jet-powered, making them difficult to intercept. He claimed that Ukraine shoots down approximately 57% of jet-powered drones and 85-90% of conventional drones. However, these figures are questionable, given Ukraine's documented shortage of air defense capabilities."
