Doctors lead by example: PROMOMED’s obesity initiative expands across Russia

PROMOMED’s “Start with Yourself” program launched in Mordovia and has expanded to the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Altai Krai, Karelia, and Kuzbass, with plans to reach more regions across Russia.

Healthcare professionals living with excess weight or obesity take part. After examination, eligible participants receive Velgia (semaglutide) or Tirzetta (tirzepatide) under medical supervision.

After six months of semaglutide treatment in Mordovia, participants lost an average of 12 kg, and their estimated 10-year cardiovascular risk fell by 20.6%. The results support the treatment’s effectiveness and safety in real-world practice and the program’s expansion.

When choosing treatment, doctors consider safety, tolerability, and medical supervision alongside effectiveness. Notably, specialists who prescribe modern obesity treatments are choosing them for their own care.
