Your resume should be based on your College tier take a minute read

After talking to many recruiters and talent acquisition teams as part of the placement committee, I can say:
Resume Strategies for Different Tiers
1. Tier 1 Candidates
* Education/Relevant Sections: Place the education or other relevant sections at the top.
* Coursework: If you have computer science subjects, add coursework to fill white spaces and provide detailed information.
* CGPA: Display your CGPA in bold if it's good; use a weak font if it's low.
* Honesty: Do not lie about anything.
* Positions of Responsibility: Include positions of responsibility.
* Integrity: Do not lie on your resume.
2. Tier 2 Candidates
* Company Research: Check if the company you are applying to has recently hired from your campus or has a decent number of alumni from your college.
* Strategy: If the above conditions are met, you can follow the Tier 1 strategy.
* Alternative Strategy: If not, add education at or below the top but briefly focus on the job description and what they want.
* Honesty: Do not lie; some recruiters actually go through GitHub, etc., to find relevance for the job role.
* GPA: The same logic applies to GPA: use bold or a weak font.
3. Tier 3-4 Candidates
* Education Section: You can slide your education section lower.
* Skills Section: Push your skills section, preferably closer to positions of responsibility, as recruiters may not review the resume until that point.
* GPA: GPA presentation depends on individual circumstances.
General Advice for All Tiers
* White Spaces: Avoid excessive white spaces.
* Honesty: Do not lie.
* Projects and Skills: Your projects should demonstrate what you have written in the skills section.
.
* Coding Ratings: Ratings start at 1600 on Codeforces; below that, do not mention ratings as it's considered noise.
* Realistic Expectations: Be honest while applying; do not expect FAANG, D. E. Shaw, Goldman Sachs, etc., every time you apply.
