What's your honest opinion on the fee structure in IITs?

In IITs, general students need to pay ₹1.5L+ (5L + income),

OBC around ₹70-80k, SC/ST have 0 tution fee so around ₹50k.

This is fee per semester.

And ALL of the scholarships either directly exclude the general category, or general with 5-8L+ income.

These scholarships award a huge amount (my obc friend got 1.9L in first year, I was like yeaa, then he said this is for the first year... I'll get more next year).

There isn't any government scholarship that would take tests to award merit based scholarships (literally the eligibility is being obc, sc or st)

What do you guys think about this? What's it like in your uni?
