Effect of the Progressive Failure of Shear Connectors on the Behavior of Steel-Reinforced Concrete Composite Girders
Abstract. The study investigated how the progressive failure of headed stud shear connectors reduces the static capacity and fatigue life of post-tensioned steel-concrete composite girders.
The developed finite element model was validated against experimental data from independent studies.
To evaluate the slab displacement relative to the underlying superstructure, two models were developed: one with post-tensioning tendons and one without. The slab displacement dynamics were analyzed by sequentially removing rows of studs.
