NEAR Intents just suffered a $3.8M exploit🚨

Just 2 days after blocking $50M in attempted swaps linked to the Bitget hacker.

What a fcking week for NEAR.

Here’s what happened:

Today NEAR Intents temporarily suspended its services after discovering a vulnerability involving Omni’s deposit

The team says:

- $3.8M was lost.
- The vulnerability has been patched.
- Affected users will be fully compensated.
- Security firms and authorities are investigating.

To make it clear Intents is the cross-chain infrastructure that allows users to swap assets

Just two days earlier, NEAR Intents reported blocking the vast majority of $50M in attempted swaps associated with the Bitget hacker.

Now its own infrastructure has been exploited.

Ofc there is currently no evidence connecting the two incidents.

$NEAR reacted negatively

(But remember that NEAR had also rallied over 140% during the preceding month)

I see this as a similar case to what happened with $ZEC at the beginning of the summer.
