Hot tea on abusive director who slips under the woke radar
This filmmaker is known for their critically celebrated, if only moderately successful, movies. Award circuits. Festival circuits. Woke Juhu-Bandra circuits. The holy trinity of cinematic self-importance.
But speak to anyone who’s worked on their sets and the carefully curated image begins to unravel. Behind the enlightened public persona, insiders describe someone allegedly verbally abusive, spectacularly temperamental, and volatile enough to send their ADs into permanent therapy.
There are even accounts of physical aggression, with studio higher-ups reportedly having to intervene and restrain them.
Cut to their public appearances, though, and you’d think you were witnessing Bollywood’s most evolved intellectual. Inclusivity! Empathy! Progressive politics!
A classic case of progressive values being excellent PR accessories but apparently terrible workplace practices. Of course, nobody dares call it out. Our auteur occupies the industry’s upper echelons, enjoys near-complete creative autonomy, and seemingly operates with equally generous immunity from accountability (and even generous budgets)
PS: Before the guessing games begin, it’s not the obvious suspect everyone’s thinking of. (CriesUnderChandelier)
