🔈 The recent Coldcard wallet exploit resulted in the loss of an estimated 1,816 BTC (~$116M) across more than 5,200 wallets, making it one of the largest hardware wallet security incidents this year. At nearly the same time, U.S. Spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded around $620M in net inflows, leading many to question whether investors are shifting from self-custody to institutional custody.
However, there is currently no evidence that the two events are directly connected. What this does highlight is a growing conversation around how investors choose to hold Bitcoin.
⚙️ Self-custody gives you full control but also full responsibility.
⚙️ ETFs offer convenience and professional custody but you give up direct ownership.
😁 As Bitcoin adoption grows, security and custody may become just as important as price. The best investment strategy isn't only about what you buy, it's also about how you protect it.
