🇦🇷 LIBRA Memecoin Team Allegedly Paid Milei $5M for Promotion

Developers of the LIBRA memecoin may have agreed to pay Argentine President Javier Milei $5M to promote the token.

The reported payment structure:

➡️ $1.5M upfront
➡️ $1.5M for an X post supporting the project
➡️ $2M after signing a consulting agreement related to blockchain and AI

The document is dated February 11, 2025, just days before LIBRA launched and Milei publicly posted about the token.

After the promotion, the coin’s price spiked sharply and then collapsed, with investor losses estimated at around $250M.

⚠️ $50M AAVE Trade Turns Into $36K

A user tried to buy $50M worth of AAVE through the Aave interface.

The swap went through an extremely illiquid pool, and the interface repeatedly warned about massive slippage. The user confirmed the warnings and executed the trade from a mobile device.

The result: 324 AAVE received, worth roughly $36K.

Almost the entire amount was captured by MEV during the transaction.

➡️ MEV bot paid Titan Builder: 16,927 ETH (~$34.8M)
➡️ Titan Builder paid Lido validator: 568 ETH (~$1.2M)

Aave says it will try to contact the user and refund about $600K in fees collected from the swap.

One click through the warnings turned a $50M trade into a $36K position.

📉 Crypto VC Funding Falls to 6-Year Low

Venture capital investment in crypto projects dropped to $2.2B in Q1 2026, the lowest level in six years.

Most of the funding went to crypto financial services (24%) and DeFi (27%).

Early stage activity is especially weak. Seed rounds totaled just $166M, roughly back to 2020 levels.

🔥BlackRock Launches Ethereum Staking ETF

BlackRock introduced $ETHB, an Ethereum ETF that includes staking yield.

Its crypto ETF lineup now looks like this:

➡️ $IBIT → Bitcoin spot ETF, price exposure only
➡️ $ETHA → Ethereum spot ETF, price exposure only
➡️ $ETHB → Ethereum ETF with ~3% staking yield

This is the first time a major asset manager offers a public market product where investors earn yield directly from a proof-of-stake blockchain.

To generate rewards, the ETH inside the ETF must be locked in staking, which can reduce liquid supply if inflows grow.

The fee is 0.12% for the first year, suggesting a push to capture market share before competitors launch similar products.
