🇺🇸 U.S. GOVERNMENT MOVES 833.6 BTC TOWARD COINBASE PRIME
Wallets linked to the U.S. government moved a significant amount of Bitcoin on Tuesday.
According to on-chain tracking data, approximately:
833.6 BTC
worth about:
$71.6 MILLION
was transferred from government-linked wallets.
The Bitcoin came from assets seized in two separate cases:
• Potapenko / Turogin forfeited funds
• Bitcoin recovered from the Bitfinex hack
The BTC first moved to intermediary addresses.
Those addresses later sent the coins to wallets identified by Arkham as:
COINBASE PRIME DEPOSIT ADDRESSES
Important:
A transfer is NOT the same thing as a confirmed sale.
Moving Bitcoin to Coinbase Prime could potentially be related to:
• Custody
• Settlement
• Asset administration
• A future sale
Blockchain data alone does not prove which one.
The U.S. government also moved roughly $31.6 million in BNB from assets seized from Alameda Research.
Altogether, more than:
$100 MILLION
in government-linked crypto moved during the day.
The U.S. still controls roughly $27.5 billion worth of seized cryptocurrency.
So the real story is not that Washington sold Bitcoin.
It is that one of the world's largest government-controlled crypto portfolios is moving again.
