⚡ USDT IS COMING BACK TO BITCOIN AFTER MORE THAN A DECADE
The world's largest stablecoin is preparing to return to Bitcoin.
Tether-backed infrastructure company Utexo plans to begin issuing USDT on Bitcoin this month.
USDT originally launched on Bitcoin in 2014 before most stablecoin activity migrated to networks such as Ethereum and Tron.
This new implementation is very different.
Utexo plans to use RGB technology to enable:
• Private USDT transfers
• Direct BTC ↔ USDT swaps
• Bitcoin-backed lending
• Settlement anchored to Bitcoin UTXOs
Most transaction information would remain off Bitcoin's public blockchain through client-side validation.
Bitcoin would provide the underlying ownership and settlement anchor.
Utexo also plans to expand the system to:
THE LIGHTNING NETWORK
after the initial Bitcoin launch.
Important distinction:
USDT is NOT being added directly to Bitcoin's consensus rules.
Bitcoin itself is not being modified.
RGB assets use Bitcoin transactions and UTXOs as cryptographic anchors while most asset data exists outside the base blockchain.
And the launch is still expected — it is not yet the dominant USDT network overnight.
But the bigger development is notable:
Bitcoin could increasingly become settlement infrastructure for both:
BTC
and dollar-denominated payments.
Bitcoin was built to move value.
Now one of the world's largest digital dollars is trying to use those rails again.
