⚙️ BITCOIN DEVELOPER PETER TODD TAKES OVER MARA'S PRIVATE MEMPOOL
Long-time Bitcoin developer Peter Todd has joined the MARA Foundation as lead maintainer of:
SLIPSTREAM
Slipstream is MARA's private Bitcoin transaction-submission system.
Instead of broadcasting a transaction across Bitcoin's public peer-to-peer network first, users can submit transactions directly to MARA Pool.
That can allow transactions to remain out of the public mempool until they are included in a block.
Why does that matter?
Private transaction submission can be useful for:
• Transactions rejected by standard relay policies
• Security-sensitive transactions
• Specialized Bitcoin research
• Reducing information exposure before confirmation
Slipstream has already been used for unusual and non-standard Bitcoin transactions.
Todd is particularly relevant to the role.
His Bitcoin work includes:
• Bitcoin Core contributions
• Replace-by-Fee development
• OpenTimestamps
• Transaction relay and mempool research
Important distinction:
Slipstream does NOT create a second Bitcoin network.
And it does NOT change Bitcoin's consensus rules.
It changes how transactions reach a miner BEFORE they are confirmed.
That distinction matters.
Bitcoin consensus determines what blocks are valid.
Mempool policy determines which unconfirmed transactions nodes are willing to relay.
With one of Bitcoin's most experienced transaction-relay developers now leading Slipstream, private mempools are becoming a much more serious part of Bitcoin infrastructure.
