For Top Tip Tuesday this week, we’re jumping in to Redshift, rendering fire and smoke with motion blur.
Beginning with an nxExplosiaFX low-res blast, we start setting this up for render by reducing the Voxel Size to introduce more detail and then caching the scene to OpenVDB, ensuring the Velocity channel is checked or no motion blur will be created. With the cache complete and the xpCache object switched off, we reintroduce the cached VDB using the MAXON Volume Loader object, the key to accessing the Vector Motion Blur options we will need to get this rendered.
Adding an already created Redshift material to the Volume Loader, we change the Channel to density and first test render a frame without motion blur before adding a Redshift Object Tag with Motion Vector enabled and our velocity channels input.
