When You Cannot Control the Outcome, Entrust It to Allah
To every believer whose mind has become exhausted by overthinking, whose heart is burdened by uncertainty, and who is tired of waiting for answers, there is a powerful Qur’anic lesson in the words:
“You will remember what I say to you, and I entrust my affair to Allah. Indeed, Allah is All-Seeing of His servants.”
(Qur’an 40:44)
The word “entrust” offers a profound key to inner peace; it means releasing the illusion that you must control everything yourself.
Imagine entering an operating room with a highly skilled surgeon; you would not tell the surgeon how to hold the instrument or perform the procedure.
You would place yourself in their hands because you trust their knowledge.
If we can entrust our bodies to a human expert, how much more should we entrust our affairs to Allah, whose knowledge and wisdom are beyond all comparison?
“My affair” includes your work, relationships, future, hopes, efforts and the problems you are trying to solve.
You are responsible for taking the means, making sincere efforts, praying and doing what you can. But you are not responsible for controlling every outcome.
And notice where the verse tells you to entrust your affair: to Allah.
This is not surrender to chance or helplessness; it is secure attachment to the One who knows what you cannot know, sees what you cannot see, and may understand the wisdom of an event long before you do.
Allah says:
“Surely in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.”
(Qur’an 13:28)
So when your mind begins rehearsing every possible future, stop and return to the verse:
“I entrust my affair to Allah.”
—Do what is yours to do.
—Take the means.
—Repair what you can repair.
—Make your choices.
—Pray.
—Then release what lies beyond your control.
You do not have to change people by force; you do not have to guarantee tomorrow.
You do not have to know how every story will end.
—Take the means, but do not worship the outcome.
— Make an effort, but do not exhaust yourself controlling what is not yours.
— Pray, but do not dictate to Allah how the answer must come.
Remember: Allah is All-Seeing of His servants.
He sees your effort, your hidden tears, your patience and every prayer no one else heard.
Your story is known to Him.
Nothing you endured, nothing you sacrificed, and no sincere effort you made is lost with Allah.
So breathe, do what you can, and entrust the rest to Him.
