This study investigates how age affects the impact of transcranial magnetic stimulation on the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex during a perceptual decision-making task. Participants aged 18 to 79 completed a random dot-motion task divided into six blocks of 40 trials each while undergoing continuous 64-channel EEG recording. Reaction times and decision accuracy were measured across testing sessions. The results showed a statistically significant difference in reaction times between younger and older participants between the first and second days of testing. Additionally, transcranial magnetic stimulation had a significant effect on reaction times specifically in the older age group.
