Atoms Research 🔴 After the $293M KelpDAO exploit, LayerZero admitted that part of its system relied on a single verification node, creating a critical point of failure attackers were able to exploit. LayerZero says it will strengthen security, add more verification layers…
🔴 KelpDAO filed a lawsuit against LayerZero and its co-founder Bryan Pellegrino over the $292M rsETH exploit.

KelpDAO alleges LayerZero failed to disclose technology risks and prevent an infiltration of its security infrastructure. Pellegrino called the claims "meritless" and said he will defend himself accordingly.

🟢 Magic Eden Was Not Exploited

Magic Eden CEO Jack Lu says the vulnerability was in Limit Break’s trading protocol and smart contracts, not Magic Eden itself.

Magic Eden stopped using the protocol two years ago and is now working with Limit Break on potentially pausing transfers at the protocol level.

Users are advised to revoke their approvals on Magic Eden until the issue is fully resolved.

The white hat who rescued the affected NFTs was also praised for preventing the situation from getting worse.

🔴 Limit Break has been exploited

An attacker exploited the Limit Break Payment Processor V2 to take NFTs that users had previously approved, impersonating holders and purchasing them for zero ETH.

Around $1.7M in NFTs has been drained across roughly 3 transactions so far.

The attack is still ongoing.

🚨 $351.6M Stolen From Bitget

Around $351.6M was stolen from Bitget, more than double the initial $170M estimate.

Withdrawals have been temporarily suspended, while deposits and trading remain operational. Bitget says the loss is fully covered by its $464M+ User Protection Fund, and user balances remain intact.

The exchange is working with Mandiant and SlowMist to investigate the incident. Cold wallets were not affected.

📊 RWA perp market reaches $117B monthly volume

Trading in perpetual contracts linked to real-world assets is growing quickly, with more activity moving onchain.

In August, RWA perp trading volume reached $117.3B, up 44x year-over-year. Onchain platforms accounted for 86% of the volume, around $101B.

Equities are now the largest category at 48% of volume, followed by commodities at 28% and indices at 18%.

Open interest also grew nearly 30x, from $161M in July 2025 to $4.8B in August 2026.

The market is still small compared with traditional derivatives, but the growth shows rising demand for trading traditional assets onchain.
