The Altitude Pill (1/3)
The Benefits of High Altitude
Iβve been in Austria for a couple weeks at around 1700 meter altitude.
Coming from The Netherlands, in a town that is literally below sea level I developed heart palpitations here.
This can be prevented by not being a retard that immediately seeks out the nearest gym to work out and instead slowly taking the time to adjust to the new atmosphere.
High altitude is very beneficial once you get used to it, even a few weeks can have long lasting health effects.
People living at high altitudes have a number of benefits.
>Living significantly longer (R)
>Lower incidence of cancer and other degenerative conditions (R)
>Lower mortality from heart disease and strokes (R)
>Lower risk of hypertension and diabetes (R)
>Consume around 10% less oxygen on average (R)
>Better utilization of carbohydrates (sugars) as fuel instead of fats (R)
>Have up to 1.5x increased energy efficiency (R)
>Increases BMR (metabolic rate) by 6-27% (R)
>Stimulates formation of new mitochondria (R)
>Increases Thyroid (T3) activity (R)
