Part 5: Why was Sinaiticus Made?
The real and current purpose of Sinaiticus is three-fold:
1) To decieve the public into thinking that Sinaiticus is a fourth century manuscript despite Sinaiticus' sets of initals match with Simonides' mentions [in 1862] of writing manuscript intials in Sinaiticus in 1839-1840
2) To pave the way to make an counterfiet End Times bible version
3) To attack the Old Testament's reliabity & authenicity (We checked through Sinaiticus; Sinaiticus is missing 12 books of the Old Testament: Exodus, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, and Ezekiel, Daniel, and Hosea!π€―)
Full timeline:
Originally it was to be given as a gift to Russia's Emperor:
"About the end of the year 1839, the venerable Benedict, my uncle, spiritual head of the
monastery of
the holy martyr,
Panteleemon, in Mount Athos, wished to present to the Emperor Nicholas I., of Russia, some gift from the sacred mountain, in grateful acknowledgment of the presents which had, from time to time, been offered to the monastery
of the martyr." (The Journal of Sacred Literature 1862-10: Volume 2 Issue 3, Page 248 Link)
After Simonides wrote Sinaiticus, he went to the island of Antigonus to deliever his forgery, Codex Sinaiticus, to "Patriarch" Constantius, in order to fulfill his promise to send it to the library in Sinai. He wrote, "I shewed the work to the patriarchs Anthimus and Constantius, and communicated to them the reason of the transcription. Constantius took it, and, having thoroughly examined it, urged me to present it to the library of Sinai, which I accordingly promised to do. Constantius had previously been bishop of Sinai, and since his resignation of that office had again become perpetual bishop of that place.
...before departing for Odessa, I went over to the island of Antigonus to visit Constantius, and to perform my promise of giving up the manuscript to the library of Mount Sinai." (Page 249).
Then, Constantius had Germanus send Sinaiticus to the library at Sinai, between 1841 (when Simonidies gave his Codex Sinaiticus to Constantius on the island of Antigonus) and 1846 (when Simonides revisited Antigonus and was told by Constantius that he already sent Simonides' manuscript, (later called Sinaiticus) to the library at Sinai (Page 249 Link):
"In 1846 I again returned to Constantinople, when I at once went over to the island of Antigonus to visit Constantius, and to place in his possession a large packet of MSS. He received me with the greatest kindness, and we conversed on many different subjects, amongst others upon my transcript, when he informed me that he had sent it some time previously to Mount Sinai. [Pg 249]... The above is a true statement of the origin and history of the famous Codex Sinaiticus, which Professor Tischendorf has foisted on the learned world as a MS. of the fourth century. I have now only one or two remarks to make. .. the name of the monk who was sent by the Patriarch Constantius to convey the volume from the island of Antigonus to Sinai was Germanus. [Pg 250]" (Pgs 249-250).
But after Codex Sinaiticus was brought to Sinai, Simonides visited the same library monastery in 1852 & saw it different:
"However, I examined the MS. and found it much altered, having an older appearance than it ought to have. The dedication to the Emperor Nicholas, placed at the beginning of the book, had been removed" (Page 249)
Who else used Sinaiticus? Constantine Von Tischendorf brought Sinaiticus from the same Sinai library (part of a monastery) to St. Petersburg, Russia in 1859, it was sold by the Soviet Union to Britain (1933). Parts of Sinaiticus are in four libraries currently: British Library, Library of the University of Leipzig, the National Library of Russia in Saint Petersburg & St. Catherineβs Monastery
Beware of anyone promoting Sinaiticus as authenic or oldest when it is a 1839 forged work of Simonides whose final goal is to attempt to corrupt the word of God.
For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God:..
