There has never been a full reckoning for the evils committed in the name of radical leftist politics.

In my first reporting dispatch from Asia, I traveled to Cambodia to visit the death sites where the Khmer Rouge communist regime mass-incarcerated, tortured and executed those it deemed enemies of the socialist revolution. Its leader, Pol Pot, was radicalized while studying in Paris and was a member of the French Communist Party.

Under the “Year Zero” experiment, money and private property were abolished, cities emptied and millions forced into work collectives. By the time the regime fell, around a quarter of Cambodia’s population was dead.
