💥Update from comrades who joined the people's caravan, where 29 international comrades were arrested and deported out of Turkey:

"Hello friends. After being back for some days, I share with you a short update about the happenings of the peoples' caravan in Bakur. We were the 'invisible' Peoples' Caravan, so we entered turkey by more discreet ways than the public part of the caravan. This allowed us to head together with the comrades of the dem parti from Istanbul to suruç, Bakur. We, 29 internationals accompanied by the comrades from the dem parti, hsk, lawyers, parliament members and medical personal, arrived there in Friday the 30th of January. Police tried already to stop our bus on the way but we managed to change the route in time. We spent one day in suruç 7km from kobane, celebrating the international bond with the people there, dancing in the street, demonstrating on the square, doing press work. We were moved by how lovely and strong the people welcomed us and by the deep connection we felt to the people of Suruç already in the moment of arrival. We felt that it was already our victory to arrive there, which turkey had tried to stop without success.

Despite our big wish to stay with the people in Suruç, we decided as caravan to leave in the same night to not put in danger the people of Suruç. We had been followed all day by heavily armed police and it was already foreseen that we may get arrested in the night. When the bus had left suruc, police stopped and arrested all 29 of us.

We were seperated in groups, brought to a police station and later on in busses to the deportation/detention Center of Istanbul airport. I was put as a group of 15 women into a bus with 15 Turkish police man, who brought us in a bus ride of 18hours to Istanbul. During the bus travel police tried to humiliate and weaken us, for your example by not giving us water, not letting us to the toilet and by their violent and patriarchal interactions. They showed their fascist ideology openly by playing fascist music over the speakers of the bus as loud as possible to drive us crazy , showing the fascist hand signs of the grey Wolfs. But they did not succeed to weaken us; we acted collectively, we demanded and protested for our needs and by that were able to make them give us what we deserved and needed. During the bus ride we also were able to intervene in the attempt of handcuffing and hitting people, we also made them stop their fascist music.

In the airport, we were told that we will be deported but not why or when. We demanded to see our lawyers, we were told that it was forbidden. As we had to demand our basic rights, conflicts and tensions got kore violent. Some girls were attacked by police, even choked for speaking up. We were threatened with even heavier violence if we wouldn't shut up and collaborate.

During the detentions and deportation process some friends experienced heavy violence. One group was attacked, cuffed in full body strap jackets and deported in this conditions to their countries, handed over to local police. As they were hit in the head before, one friend passed out during the flight. We had negociated to be deported in groups to places we decided on. Some of us were deported anyway alone to random places. We were all 29 deported during Sunday 1st of February, before we could even see a lawyer, without knowing why or getting any information. They stole from the cash we had to make us pay for the flights, we did not get any receipts.
