The fiercest fighting is taking place in the Afar province, where Ethiopian authorities claim units of the Eritrean armed forces are operating alongside the rebels.

Footage shows Ethiopian armed forces regaining control of the strategically important town of Alamata, located in the southern part of the Tigray region.
