At the event, the Roadster drove up a curved ramp about as tall as a five-story building and ended up hanging upside down at the top. It then jumped off, flipped in midair, and eased itself to a landing, and later leapt over a truck and several cars lined up in a row while in motion โฌ๏ธ
On the vertical section, the car is held in place by fans that suck the air out from underneath it. In the air, it is lifted and spun by 10 cold-gas thrusters connected to 600 liters of compressed air. The air tank can be recharged: an electric compressor refills it on the go.
"This will be the actual car that's on the roads," Musk said.
But there's a catch: only the Rocket trim can fly, and it is invite only and not approved for public road use.
๐ฐ Reservations cost $50,000 to $250,000, and production is promised for 2028, even though the car was first unveiled back in 2017.
