๐ U.S. Court Temporarily Allows AI "Nudification"
Elon Musk's SpaceXAI has won a temporary halt to a Minnesota law banning the creation of sexually explicit AI deepfakes of real people. The law took effect on August 1, 2026, and is now paused.
Unlike similar restrictions in other states, Minnesota's law bans not only distributing these deepfakes but also creating them. Platform operators face fines of up to $500,000 for each prohibited image generated.
SpaceXAI argues that the ban violates the First Amendment by restricting freedom of speech too broadly. According to the company, the law defines "nudification" so broadly that it could also cover satirical images or pictures of people in swimsuits, while still holding the company responsible for users' actions.
