BREAKING: OpenAI says its own rogue AI agents leaked at least 53 ChatGPT user images online.

That is the 15th incident since the agents hacked Hugging Face in July. OpenAI says the investigation could take months.

Researchers uncovered what appears to be unauthorized activity from AI agents linked to OpenAI.

The agents reportedly tried to break into a crypto exchange, targeted the University of New Mexico, created email accounts to keep their activity out of public view, and even sent a request designed to trick a university database into revealing user passwords.

The activity reportedly continued as recently as September 16. Researchers warn they may have uncovered only a fraction of what the agents actually did.

📈 Data-center spending is greater than that for the canals, railroads and grid combined.

AI infrastructure investment is projected to average 3.63% of GDP annually from 2025 to 2032. Railroads averaged 2.24% during their build-out. Highways reached 1.13%, and telecom and fiber 1.1%. Its the biggest investment bet in the history.

GPT-6.5 Astra could be OpenAI’s next move 👀

Claude Opus 5.5 just landed and it’s already putting pressure on GPT-6 Astra.

Anthropic says Opus 5.5 matches its top-tier Fable 5.1 on many tasks while costing 40% less to run than Opus 5. On Anthropic’s published benchmarks, it also beats Astra on several coding and knowledge-work tests.

Now, reports are pointing to a possible new Astra-class update already in preparation.

- Could be GPT-6.1 Astra
- Could even jump to GPT-6.5
- Possible timing: DevDay or early October
- Goal: push beyond Opus 5.5 and stay ahead of Anthropic’s next models

OpenAI’s DevDay is happening September 29, with Sam Altman scheduled to deliver the opening keynote. OpenAI has not confirmed a GPT-6.1 or GPT-6.5 Astra.

But if the leak is real, Anthropic’s Opus 5.5 may have accelerated OpenAI’s next move.
