🇿🇦 South Africa invokes disaster law to tackle energy crisis

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on Thursday declared a national "state of disaster" over his country's power shortages, saying they posed an existential threat to the economy and social fabric.

"The crisis has progressively evolved to affect every part of society. We must act to lessen the impact of the crisis on farmers, on small businesses, on our water infrastructure and our transport network," said Ramaphosa.

During nation address a group of members of parliament attempted to drown out president‘s speech, before being asked to leave the house. A group of members of parliament from the Economic Freedom Fighters then attempted to storm the stage, with some carrying placards, and were forced out by security guards.
